I might be wrong here but thought the AE86 had an electronic flasher standard. But you say its a thermal style can?
Anyhow, any auto parts hop or auto electrician should be able to sell you a electronic flasher.
Autobarn don't usually know what they sell/dont sell.. Maybe just try another auto parts shop if not see an auto electrician.
