The small hole is where you can put an allen key through while you are installing it. Then when ready you pull out the allen key and you have instant tension. The distance that it protrudes is important to get the right tension. You will need to check out the manual to see how far. Similar setup on the 1UZ V8 motor. To fit it I simply used longer bolts until it was compressed enough to fit the shorter bolts. Then you change one bolt at a time and continue to tighten it up. [Report message to a moderator]
