If it isn't in far enough you can risk twisting the out put shaft of the gear box.
When I got mine re done (this was into a W50) the drive shaft bloke said from the centre line of the uni to rear gearbox was going tobe 165 mm. This may change will different uni's. My tail shaft sticks out approx an 1" at ride height.
Also what is the diametre of the shaft????
