Just asking cause Joel (bigworm) had problems with his bothers 1J MX73. The 2nd section of the stocker Tailshaft where the rubber, is was sucking into itself and pulling the centre bearing out of its housing and pulling the tailshaft out of the back of the box. This was causing some real cool shudders and noise's shifting into 2nd and on deccel. This was fixed with a solid rear section. Noises stoped however this was only 2 or so weeks ago and I don't know how it has taken to some serious driving.

Also the bloke who did the shaft recomended that they go bigger in diameter to cope with the extra power. Just his brother didn't want to step up I don't now why don't want to get involved. (our tailshafts where built on the same day at the same place). I think that the stocker MX73 is 2.5' and you may want to step up to atleast a 3'.

Now your gonna say to step up you need bigger uni's and these won't bolt up the diff flange. To solve this go and get a flange of a Hilux with a F series diff, also centre bearings have the same flange. These have a large diameter 3 and a 1/4 or a 1/2' which can be redrilled to suit any large uni to cope with the power of your wonderful V8.

This modification is what i did when I up sized my tailshaft when it poped.

Hope this helps.
PM for more info.
