The RB26 has been more highly developed, and therefore with a stock bottom end someone has no doubt made more power than has been made on a stock 1JZ. Doesn't really mean much, though. I actually have a great distaste for the "strength" argument or discussions of "how much boost" an engine can run. It all comes down to general condition and the way the engine is tuned, set up and treated. Give me a 1JZ with an aftermarket ECU and I can blow it up with less than 1 bar at a power level of about 300hp. Give me 2 minutes. Same goes for the RB26 (or any other engine for that matter). In all cases the engine blows up and all the sikbros will talk about how their cousin had one and it was shit because it blew up on their bitch's brother's dyno. It doesn't mean that the engine in question is weak, it just means that this particular example was manhandled. I don't think there is a winner to your argument, but I have a soft spot for the 1JZ because it's a much berated engine due to it's factory turbo failures... and also that 90% of the population thinks Datto engines & rotaries are the only way to make a car go fast.
