The 5R you will be using will be from the late 60's to early 70s (maybe even up to 1974 or '76 - not sure) - that would make them 30 years old at least.
These are low compression pushrod motors. The maximum power quoted for these motors way back in 1968 was 95 hp @ 5000 rpm (direct quote from the original engine manual I have). The hp gain is not significant. It'll go better than what's there (particularly if the 2R is about to die) but don't expect anything scintillating. I'd suggest the figure you quoted was for a later 5 mains variant.
If you are after a significant performance gain, I would do the 18RG thing as SRacin suggested.
