to start, look at the 4AGTE tech article the WITZL posted about recently..
second, if you have the money and the skills, then stop stuffing about with forums  and go to the source! go and have a chat to Garret abotu what turbo they recommend.. it totally depends on what rpm range and what boost you are looking for... 10psi turbo is very different spec to 50psi turbo.
intercoolers... if you have the money, just decide where it needs to go, how much space is there, make a cardboard mockup of the space, and then take that to a good custom IC mob and get one made... don't stuff around with modifying old crap.
ECU? whatever you like depends what features you like, if you can tune it yourself etc.. if you are stuck with having someone tune it for you, then find a good tuner nearby and go from there. if you can do it yourself, then start at the top, ie MoTec, and work your way down, weeding out features, until you find something you can afford.... seriously....
it will not be road legal with an aftermarket ECU, unless you can pass emissions.

so then just work out exactly what you need, measure it up, maybe make mock-ups, then get it professionally made. easy. more dollars but less hassle
