I believe that you *can* install/uninstall injectors yourself, but I don't know exactly what is involved. DO NOT do it until you know exactly what you are doing! Fuellines are under pressure, etc etc, could be dangerous for all I know. I haven't had any more to do with the fuel side of the engine than change the filter.
About all your questions, I don't know personally, but I would post a question to the Old Celica Club list if I were you (www.celicas.org, goto mailing lists, then 'ask the experts a question' or better still just subscribe to the list.) Lots of people with 22REs who know a lot about them, and people who have swapped in/out their injectors a lot too. Should be able to get good advice there.
