Ed,
Bugger casual shelf stacking, I used to do that years ago while studying computing at TAFE back in 1994, when I lived in Tassy. I'm now a Communications and Information Systems sailor in the RAN. I'm currently working ashore doing shift work, which I hate but thats another story. My navy hours enable me to work a 2nd casual job for a nation wide self storage company.
This sales job brings me a lot of satisfaction and I probably enjoy it more than the navy, despite the heavy tax I pay.
I'm not a big Sydney fan, but this city has the most employment opportunities for young people so get out there, make some money, and enjoy yourself.
Aim a little higher dude than the supermarket scene. I'm sure you have the skills and brains to make your cash an easier way. I spent three years with a big supermarket chain starting with the letter "C" and to tell you the truth it was the biggest mistake I've ever made. I think you need to be proud to tell people where you work, even if its only casual.
Good luck dude, and keep hammering with that uni degree!

ps try the taxi companies, I hear they are needing radio operators and they pay $35 an hour on weekends. If that fails you can always do a quick 6 years in the navy. Its not that bad but I only have 5 months to go! And I'm counting down!!!!
