mk1sc Regular Location: sydney Registered: March 2004	Re: Tips on changing oil and fuel filter Wed, 23 June 2004 07:59 pretty much oil filter is covered, just remember to replace new sump plug washer aswell. running engine to optimal temp will speed up the draing heaps faster, shouldnt take more then few minute fuel filters little trickier. -firstly, before undoing any bolts/nuts make sure u release the pressure out of the system by removing the fuel cap, disconnecting the fuel pump either thru fuse or unplug the fuel pump connector usually located somewhere under rear seat then crank the engine til it stalls -typical toyota filter u need 14mm pipe spanner, 19mm open end spanner and 17mm ring spanner or socket preferably single hex. -always use open end spanner to hold the neck of the filter when cracking the bolt to take inlet and outlet pipe off otherwise u end up twisting or breaking the pipe. -then undo bolt from brackets that hold filter and swap them over if necessary. remember to replace or put back any washers u taken out otherwise it will leak and might not start -note: try not to look at directly at hose etc.. when disconnecting them otherwise there might still be pressure build up and not very good sight when fuel start sprayin in the eye [Report message to a moderator]
