Components tend to be better quality speakers because they are the type of speakers that are focussed in higher end audio. You can definately get some great sounding co-axials, but the fact that most companies focus on components means they will be hard to find.

Components are best installed as far forward as possible, and as a general rule it is good to have the tweeters and mid bass aimed at the opposite sides headrest, but its really up to a bit of experimentation on what sounds best for you.

You will plug your components up to an amp. The amp will send power to the crossover, which splits the signal into two different frequency ranges. High for the tweeters, and low for the mid bass.

As for your radio, Jaycar sells an FM converter that deals with this issue. Apparently jap AM is the same so no worries there.

My Clarion from the US allowed me to change "regions" so that it could pick up FM and AM perfectly over here.
