JZ engines run an 82C thermostat. Early 7MGTE's ran an 88C thermostat and later on ran an 82C (This is the Aus delivered MA71), unsure about the JDM models, they possibly ran an 82C straight off the bat.
My 2J ran around 6-8C cooler than my 7M using the same radiator (Measured using a digital thermometer and a thermocouple in the top radiator hose).
I ran a single Davies Craig 16" thermofan and never had any temp issues.
