Forced Induction on a old diesel Cruiser. Which way to go?

G'Day all
History:
I been giving my old Crusier bit of a birthday over tha last few weeks. On the list is a restored body(Dark green), power steering, nolathane allround, front disc brakes, rear drum mounted handbrake(oringinaly on trans output) blah blah blah but I need more power captain!
Anyways, the Cruiser is a 79 HJ45 ute which has the 3.6L i6 'H' motor. No powerhouse but it's damn reliable. The motor is in good nick, only done 20k from full rebuild.
For a bit of fun, that's different, I basically want to either turbo it or stick a SC12/14 blower on it. I just can't decide. There seems to be many pro and cons of doing either from scratch. Engine bay room is not an issue with either way.
I'm not worried about doing it the easiest way but I would like to be able to finish it without coming to a snag that can't be fixed. I'm assuming the actual units cost similar second hand, maybe $250-$400 via these forums . All work is to be done by me to keep the costs down and to keep up the challenge.
At first I thought a SC would be best way, no exhaust to worry about but the serpentine belt setup has got me worried. My engine uses the standard single v-belt(2 belts now with P/S) and converting to multi-vee maybe too hard. I was having a good look today and was scatching my head.
On the other hand a TC has much more complex plumbing, air/water/oil. Also what size to choose? CT12,CT20 or CT26. My 3 Litre Surf had a CT12A which worked well(though it crapped itself at Xmas), the CT20's are on the smaller 2.4litre Surfs are maybe too small(are they smaller?) and finally the CT26 which are on the later 4.2L Cruiser's maybe too big. All three seem to be pretty common around here(forum).
Just wondering other people's thoughts who have gone down the same path, not necesserilly with a diesel though just forced induction from scratch. The engine is going back in next week so I'll hope to start the following week.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
