Personally I think the 6AFC is a better option. 1400cc's of carburetted FWD grunt Smile

Seriously though, the Toyota engines worth considering are:

7MGTE
1JZGTE
2JZGTE
1UZFE

There are other options, but given the size of the car and a realistic budget (you own a Toyota Crown so you obviously aren't rich) these are your only real options.

The 7MGTE is by far the easiest conversion, but good examples are hard to find. A 1JZGTE/2JZGTE/1UZFE will probably involve a rack & pinion steering conversion

For the 7MGTE or 1UZ swap, you would be looking at a bill of AT LEAST $5k if you do the work yourself. For the 1JZ swap you will need at least $6-7k, and more like $10k for a 2JZGTE or $13k for a 2JZGTE with the 6-speed box.

Come back in a year when you're got the money and we'll be happy to help out with ideas.

I would also budget on a brake upgrade for around $1,000...
