The only real benefit of the 20V's is the smooth revving nature. There isn't a real world noticable difference between the blacktop and the silvertop, just try to get a post '93 silvertop with a C56 5-speed if you are set on wasting money on a 20V swap You can usually read the date of the motor from the date stamped on the plug leads. I've done both swaps, and from what myself and one of the other guys here in Brisbane (who has done 4 other blacktop swaps) have seen, the blacktops aren't as reliable as the silvertops... I've had to put a new hydraulic timing belt tensioner and VVT intake cam pulley on mine (90,000K's on the motor, otherwise very good condition) which have cost an additional $600 on top of the cut's original $2300 price. The only real standard "conversion" I'd recommend for the AE9x FWD's is a nice MAP GZE. Gob's of torque from very low rev's, with great power right through to redline. Tons of fun for a street driven car. [Report message to a moderator]
