Half you people probably don't even service your cars regularly anyway - 9,000km? On a 'performance' car? You've gotta be joking!
IMO all cars should be serviced every 5,000kms... particularly if it fits one of these criterion:
* your engine is already getting on a bit
* you wring it's neck
* it is a highly strung engine
* you get off on being oiled up
If you think about it, a daily driver also goes through more heat cycles (short trips) than a performance car so being a daily is probably no excuse for poor servicing.
It's also a great feeling to know that everything on your car is ridgy-didge.

Lets see, $19 for oil filter, $65-90 for 5 litres of oil, changed every 4-5000kms religiously.
Maybe you should go and buy a holden/ford and stick to their 20,000km service recommendations, that oughta keep the oil & filter prices in check
