Within reason, just about any engine can go into any car.

For that money you could probably go:

Crown $3500 (a good one, not a POS)
Landcruiser calipers, DBA rotors $1000
2JZGE & 5 speed installed $6000
LSD $500
Suspension work $2000

For a reasonable package, and a turbo engine, you are looking at more like $15-$20k

Generally the more modern the car, the easier conversion. There are exceptions though, depending on the engine going in. The main thing that will affect your decision is the factory steering setup - mostly with the twin turbo JZ motors and the 1UZ. The atmo motors and the 7MGTE shouldn't pose a steering headache - but measure to be safe.
