coil pulling too much current and burning it out?

what is the resistance of the primary winding of the coil you are using vs the stock coils primary winding?

might need to use a ballast resistor in series to reduce the coils current capacity?

just a thought.. there's a big difference between 5amps and 10amps through a transistor..
