Any mention of gearing, engine size, no. of cyls is putting the cart before the horse and will merely confuse the issue. You should be able to find it on the net-and until you have grasped the underlying concept AVOID any automotive type sites as they are generally incorrect or terribly explained. Also, when you search, use 'power', not 'horsepower' as you want to find a site explaining it all in proper metric units-ie kW and NM. Once you've had a look at that stuff, then begin applying it to engines (otherwise trying to comprehend it all in one go is near impossible) Going straight to the source and learn from first principles is your best bet.
