(4A-GZE) Fri, 20 September 2002 12:41 ladys you are all missing the point. all thing to do with cars and engines are a compremise. you can get 400hp out of one but its not going to last 100k km . i have one that i have been collecting parts for, for 3+ years. it is o-ringed shot peened balanced with Arp rod bolts and head studs. wont tell you the rest but it cost alot of money and if i dont get over 400hp out of it ill give it away as i will be running 30psi+ and this is the main point , from time to time. if i ran it at 30psi all the time the engine would wear out in 15k km more or less. its all a give and take. and if i drove it around the race track at 30psi it would be lucky to make 500km. see the point? the more power the less km you are going to get. has always been this way with engines. haha the 308 we stroked to 355 for dyno comps makes 708hp at the wheels but in 10k it has done two head gaskets and 5 sets of tyres. coast $140k in parts alone to build but we are amazed the crank has not snapped yet! its done 10k km plus 38 dyno runs. mick [Report message to a moderator]
