ae86s are a pain cost they cost so much. Finding a clean one is hard and often expensive. And from there it's all modifactions.
At the moment, I am doing a 4age transplant (the JDM way). I am taking no short cuts. Seriously, with this conversion I am spending close to the amount of money you'd spend on buying that immaculate turbo silvia. I am constantly in and out of toyota and the wreckers.
I am sorta regretting it, cos by the time I finish with the suspension work, LS rear end and spray job, (+ the initial cost of the car) I may be looking at the price of an early s14, an r33 and my dream car, a S5 rx..
But once you got everything the way you want it, they are cheap to maintain... Good on fuel, cheap brake pads + clutches, etc.. etc..
hmmm..
All in all, it's a car for a real enthusiast, not for a person who is after a cheap performance car, because they aren't cheap and they aren't that fast(straight line wise).
