I wouldnt go for the VW pistons, last i heard someone ended up with a 7.0-7.5:1 compression ratio I would never want something that low.
If you have a spare set of 18R-G pistons, i might be interested in them as a temporary measure for myself, (Maybe)
I too am going the path of the exhaust driven sucker, and am currently looking at some aftermarket forged pistons for my 18R-G. At the moment there is two of us looking at buying these pistons, so if you joined in it might help make prices a little nicer (already below $1000, more like 800-900).
