bbaacchhyy Forums Junkie Location: Adelaide Registered: September 2003	Re: The Police Thu, 22 July 2004 16:42 Have had my share of fines in the past, all deserved (was speeding at each occasion), but the one that I managed to do the best out of was whilst riding a motorbike back home from leave whilst in the RAAF. Was traveklling from Wagga Wagga (what a great place ) to Adelaide, and was typically doing 150 to 160km/hr all the way, and toeards the end, got up to 170 on the South eastern Freeway between Tailem Bend and Adelaide. To set the scene, it was dark, very light rain, been riding for almost 7 hours, and my left rear blinker lens was cracked and mostly missing. I'm happliy motoring along (had slowed down at this tage to about 140), and I noticed that the hills beside me were flashing. Hmmmmm. Look to my left, and there they are. i dutifully pull over, and be VERY polite and rather sheepish. "Do you have a good reason for doing 140 km/hr in a 110 zone ?) asks the cop sternly whilst the Crumpledore ticks very noisily in the background (they spotted me 40 kays back, and had spent that time chasing me down !!). Smartass answers (but politely of course)"Nothing that would get me off", and then go on to explain that I'm heading home from Wagga and just want to get there. As the cop starts writing down the details, he talks about the fact that he has the same motorbike but without the fairing, and what was it like ? The end result was that I just got fined for speeding, and not dangerous driving (min 3 months loss of licence and court appearance), and still made it to the bottom of Eagle on the Hill in 7 hours and 15 minutes - 1300km !!!! Biggest hint from anyone being pulled over, even if they are arseholes, is be Polite, and take note if the shit hits the fan.
