it depends on what pistons you have in the 18R-G. There were three most common types, being:

# 9.7:1
# 8.7:1
# 8.3:1


As for the 2T-G being faster, most likely its the tune of your 18RG. Get it rejetted and dyno tuned and you should be very happy.
