Hey all, as you probably don't know, I'm pretty much set on buying an ST185 GT4 in a couple of months. I went to the Just Car Insurance website and chucked together a quote for full comp insurance (20yo driver, garaged in Bulleen, few typical mods, etc.) and the figure I was quoted for a 1990 model, was $1600! Is it just me or does that sound way too cheap?! Not that I'm complaining, if that's true, then I'm basically sold on it! RACV wanted $2.5k in comparison, and thats without listing any mods!

Just Car Insurance seem to offer competitive premiums, but in my experience the insured value offered for most cars is a little bit low (perhaps using Red Book figures?). That said, something like about 2% of all accidents actually involve a writeoff, so to be honest I think people place a little (well, a lot) too much emphasis on the insured value offered. Not only is it unlikely you'll have a claim, it's unlikely that if you do your car will actually be a writeoff! Razz

Seems a good premium, just have a read through their policy wording and see that you're happy with it. I know their legal liability cover is only $5 million or $10 million, where a lot of the direct major insurers offer $20 million. If your vehicle is/will be under secured finance, they may require a certain level of liability cover.

Also, one final thing to note is that you commented about "not listing" mods. For anyone that doesn't know - NOT LISTING MODIFICATIONS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEY ARE NOT COVERED BY YOUR INSURANCE. NOT LISTING THEM MEANS THAT YOUR INSURANCE IS VOID AND YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY COVER AT ALL.

Cheers

Leigh
