I tried both - large share house (lots of parties, complaints by the nieghbors and shitloads of mowing) and 2 bedroom flat (way easier to clean, keep clean and less to worry about) and I'd say go for the flat. You can do all that "house in burb's" stuff when you buy your own house, rather than having to continually maintain someone else's investment.

I believe the term Flat is used by the English. The Orrrrrstraaaaaliannnns call 'em units
