I look at the the nut and bolt opinion but chose to rivet it over I'm pretty sure. I did this last year so trying to remember exactly but is it possible to hold the bolt or nut in the slide?

I removed an end stop and feed the new bush in there then replaced the stop.

With the two half idea sounds good but how do you plan to stop them falling out? If they rotate (not meant to but never know) the halves could become lose.

No luck with the measurements yet still looking.
