I have DBA slotted rotors and EBC Greenstuff pads on my MA61. It's a substantial upgrade over stock, and probably as good as you're going to get without upgrading to big brakes, and thus bigger wheels etc. Sure you can get better pads, but they fit into the "uber-expensive racing pads" category and generally aren't very streetable (ie noisy, chew up rotors, take a while to warm up etc).
I upgraded pads and rotors at the same time so I can't tell how much difference each made, but I think it's safe to say the pads make the most difference, and the rotors don't do much but look cool. I only got the slotted ones because my stockers needed replacing anyway, and the DBA slotted rotors are only a few bucks more than the standard ones.
One thing to note though, there is a documented problem with Greenstuff pads leaving uneven resin deposits on slotted rotors, which leads to an annoying vibration which feels like warped rotors. It's easily fixed by pulling the rotors off and sanding the resin off, but it's a bit of a pain. If your existing rotors are OK (ie above minimum thickness) I recommend leaving them.
