perhaps your float levels are set incorrectly. gregories manual tells you how to set the carby up properly. could be a clogged line, clogged fuel filter, or yes the mech pump wearing out. thats the only pump on the whole car except the oil pump. rebuild kits for the fuel pumps are usually 90 bucks. pumps can be had for 20-30 at the wreckers
