sounds like dougs KE15 is much much faster than mine then (what do you think Jamie, you've been in both). new XR6 and 6 cyl commodores keep up roughly until end of second gear. the new V8's pull away slightly (when we both start at same time with same intentions ). once in third tho, i lose all my advantage. my car was dynoed (toymods dynoday 5) with 47rwkw at wheels (compared to stock 86kw 4AG's with 55rwkw).
i seriously doubt a 4K'd 800kg (with driver) car, would beat these V8's once into 3rd gear... and old utes don't count ![Wink](images/smiley_icons/icon_wink.gif)
as Bill said, they can be fast, but compared to modern engine, will have buggerall bottom end, cost a lot, and not last long.
as i said before many times, pick your rev range, and optimise the motor for that.
