How strong is a 1JZ GTE, am thinkin about using it for a conversion, just want to know how renowned they might be for strength?

It would take more money then you (i dont assume you are rich or poor)could afford to hurt these engines, but like everything else in the world, they are breakable.

FWIW i know of a chap who broke a ford (c4 i think it was) transmission (which are known for thier strength) with a internally stock 1j motor

I also believe with the right tuning, 600hp is achievable with stock internals. The 1200hp veilside 1j still uses the Toyota crank.

Maybe http://www.planetsoarer.com/ is the place to be, heaps of info there.

Cheers

Steve
