Trial fitting turbo in AE82..attn: 4AGZE turbo AE82 people..please(warning:about 350kb of photos)	Sun, 01 August 2004 03:38

I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to mount this turbo onto a 4age in an ae82. There is not much room up front, the turbo is a TD04 off a rex. I wonder whether I should get a smaller turbo..however I know Dale etc have fitted this on a starlet etc. Fan and starter motor are pretty much in way and I also want to be able to change oil filter once in a while. Any ideas would be great..especially if you've done it before on a similar car ( I think even the ae92s have more room than ae82 between radiator and bock:( ) Here are some pics: 1st pic - exhaust housing to passenger side of car. Advantage - gives good room to get the exhaust manifold tho bolt up to turbo. However as can be seen in 2nd pic there is the start motor to cotend with, which the main body of the exhaust housing will likely interfere with. 3rd pic - Comp side to passenger side Intake piping to TB may be easier from this bit I sense it would be difficult to make the manifold to bolt up to this as the exhaust flange on turbo is quite close to engine 4th Pic and rest to follow: Exhaust side to Passenger side This may look like the best option but there is minimal space to get the manifold in there! With the exhaust housing right up against radiator there is only a gap of about 5-6cm from engine to turbine flange [Updated on: Sun, 01 August 2004 11:22] [Report message to a moderator]
