Mick i had the same problem with my gearbox. It used to kinda crunch going into 2nd gear from 1st.
Was about to get the gearbox replaced. But i drained the gearbox oil out and replaced it with Shell Helix gearbox oil.
For heavy duty gearboxes. SAE 80W
And this fixed the problem within like 2 hours of driving. When i drained the oil, there was a bit of metal bits, so it musta had shit in the gearbox, and this is what was probably crunching.
Give that a go b4 you go spending alot on a new gearbox.
smt_007 good to hear your keeping the camry, as you probably know i have blown my 3sfe engine and im in the process of gettin a new motor. Ive also lost my licence for 3months and i have 7 weeks left till i get it back.
Im still deciding what to do in the way of the new engine. I dont want to spend alot on turbo'n it or anything atm.
But i want to get a little bit more performance. How much is it costing you to stroke it? And how much added performance do you get?
Im looking at a reconed or second hand 3sfe or even a front cut sv21 from japan to replace my blown motor. And im going to add a aftermarket ECU.
Can anyone give any ideas,costs, performance amounts about these engines?
