Hi Nathan, the spigot bearing, is a small ball race bearing, which is fitted to the rear of the crankshaft. The spigot bearing supports and centralizes the gearbox input shaft. They are not often used in FWD engine gearbox combo's, because the gearbox input shaft is left shorter than normal. This is to facilitate easier clutch replacement in FWD cars.
