Hi guys. What a great day it is today!!!
I changed my K&N Rampod Filter back to the standard airbox.
Goes better!!! I found that the open filter sounds AWESOME and is really loud (to the point where when it's revving up around 7000rpm, you can feel the vibration from it inside the cabin!!), but it plays up on the ECU. I had this problem where sometimes the car would go great and other times it would be sluggish and hesitant. Changed the air filter back to the airbox yesterday and it goes really good. And the Exhaust sounds great at high rpm's (couldn't here it as much because of the pod filter before!).
The factory ECU's in these cars are very restricive. You really can't customize anyting on it. I enjoy fiddling around with settings to get a feel for the car. You just can't do that with new fuel injected cars and ECU's. So getting a aftermarket ECU would be great to tinker with.
As far as engine goes, the 2VZFE goes really good for it's age. I want to rebuild it sometime next year. In terms of mods, I wanted to maybe do a little head work, maybe a bore out and some other small internal enhancements. Maybe even a turbo or supercharger. Was told by friend that the V6 engines have great airflow characteristics, and that a turbo would be great for it. The only danger with that is reliability. You really do put a load on the motor with that sort of equipment. Hence, why I think a full rebuild of the engine would be in order first, and that way I could set it up for a turbo, if I decided to get one, and so reliability wouldn't be an issue.
My exhaust is a cat-back system that splits after the resonator in two pipe and then the two mufflers, do you guys think that an extractor setup would be of benfit?? Where would the O2 sensor go??? What sort of equipment is available for Jap cars like this??
PS. TOYCSX - Could you tell me where undercar neons are best placed?? Front, Sides and Rear. Thankyou.
