I'm getting a full head service (Sounds good huh Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy ) on my 4A-GE 100kW... I'm getting it skimmed flat at the bottom, a pressure test to make sure that it's okay and a full valve service which involves stripping the entire head and checking all the valves and valve caps for straightness and so forth... That's costing me:
$450 for the valve service
$67.60 for the pressure test...

You said that you're keeping the car for a while... Do the reconditioning... That way you can ensure that you should have no problems further on down the track... I'm doing a full engine rebuild and was thinking of skipping the valve service... But then I thought, "what if I put it all back together and one of the valves are infact bent or something is wrong with it"... That means that I'd have to pull it apart again, get that fixed and then put it all back together...
