Yup it is easier to just put a DET in. But if you (as this guy did) have enough bits laying around or as i have a SR20DE that you got for next to nothing you might as well play with it. As far as i know the guy who has done the SR20DE turbo conversion hasn't opened the engine up recently.
Here are some older threads relating to it although i won't pretend that i have read it all, i can't find where it says what his current output is but i'm sure at the last dyno day it was up from the 160rwkw or so mentioned in this thread.

Its a s14vvt engine , loads of differences again , bit of a waste of a good N/A engine , but cheap at $800 . only power figure i read was 150something
