But back to your original question - modifying/maintaining cars isn't nearly as expensive when you have the time/know-how to do things yourself.. The cost of parts alone usually isn't too off-putting, but labour is what generally makes the bills soar. I don't mind giving a lot of things a go, but unfortunately the amount of free time i've got usually discourages me.
