I replaced the elbow above the resonator with some spiral-wired pipe, since the original pipe was cracked something shocking... thing is that may have made it worse, considering I can't get a proper seal with that spiral stuff.
I'll try to limp 15 minutes to Toyota and hopefully they'll have the proper hose... not even hose specialists have it, so I had to settle for this spiral stuff.
Weird thing is I made it up from the Gold Coast, took it for a spirited ( ) drive while I was up here and it's fine... so I replace all the sticky-taped stuff for it to pass road worthy and yes this was an item... gotta be it.
It seems like a likely explanation, thanks guys.
