not sure - ask at an auto parts store. An old secondhand Mazda pump from the wreckers might set you back $10-20.

No it won't make your car go any better. The carburettor, if it is doing its job right, will dispense only the fuel the engine needs. Delivering more fuel to the carburettor will only result in more of it to be returned to the fuel tank (provided the fuel pressure is not so high as to overcome the needle and seat).

Your easiest and cheapest option is to just get a good secondhand mechanical pump.
