From what I've been told by a coupla tyre places:
The 40-series 215x17" is way expensive, because it's rarer than the 45-series, and it needs double-layer sidewalls to get the load rating required by law, to match the Celica's original equipment tyres. Of course, the thing only weighs 1150kg, so load ratings shouldn't ever be a problem in the real world. Still, the law's the law.
The 45-series JUSSSST scrapes in the load rating with a regular sidewall, and is more common. Also. I want the extra diameter if it fits o.k, to bring down my highway-cruise r.p.m. - currently 3,000rpm @ 100km/h !!! the 45-series should be about 6% bigger than original equipment, which will be handy for economy and engine lif, methinks.
How does your ride loook with 17's at standard ride-height, toof? got pictures anywhere?
