In WA, a yellow sticker issue used to require three faults for issue, but not any more - this is the fact behind those stories of three faults. Once issued, the car needs a full inspection at a licensing centre where they can retain the sticker on the car for any other fault requiring attention not on the original sticker. Prices and methods of inspection have also recently gone up, making it basically twice as expensive if you have to go over twice, as it used to be. Moral of the story is get the car attended to before you head to the pits, to avoid the extra costs now in place!
