Torque vs weight figures will be the factor that governs how much powah that the box can handle. I have had no reliability issues so far with around the 350hp mark. Imagine the W58 in a 300hp turbo diesel 10 tonne truck. Incidentally how much power does Toyota rate the Corona 4 speed at? (sorry, I do not recall the gearbox code) I am sure that you will find that plenty of drag rotaries have far exceeded the recommended power rating - repeatedly.
