if the box is out of the car you could spin the input shaft and count the amount of rotations the output shaft turns in each gear. do say 10 turns to get it more accurate. (remember to divide the result by 10 once counted)
check a gearbox ratio chart to compare the ratio's of w55 and w58.

if gearbox is in car. just a thought. if your speedo and tacho are correct. then you could drive at 100km/h in fourth gear (1:1 gearbox ratio) and the tacho will say what your diff ratio is. like 4100 rpm would be 4.1:1. sounds correct theoretically doesnt it?
or if you know the diff ratio already
using math calculations like said above. u could use the tacho and speedo and the diff ratio (thats if their all calibrated correctly) to find out what the gearbox ratios are. bit complicated if ur no good at maths me thinks. or turn the crank over by hand (plugs removed makes it easier) and count the rotations of the driveshaft in each gear (with the diff jacked up of course).
