That's right - the JZA70 is considered under the new rules as an engine variant of the MA70 and, because the MA70 was sold in Australia, is not eligible to be imported. Both Kevin Hart from Melville Importers and someone from Extreme Machines (the 2 WA importers who used to import Mark 3 supras) have confirmed this.

If you want a JZA70 there are quite a few going around in WA that were imported by Kevin Hart under the old rules. Including some Type R's - these have Recaro seats and Bilstein shocks. But Perth is probably too far from Goulbourn to make that practical.
