After seeing quite a few new clutches installed and slipping within a short time. It has been suggested to me that the best way to ensure a correct clutch fit, and therefore reduce/eliminate slippage, is to supply the flywheel machinist with the flywheel, clutchplate and pressure plate.

The step on the flywheel is critical, as is the thickness of both the clutch plate, and the pressure plate. If the step and/or your clutch plate are too thick, the pressure plate will have "rocked over centre" ie. the clutch is in the first stages of release! Embarassed Best bet, buy your clutch and pressure plate from the guy who machines your flywheel.

regards Chuck.
