This is what I plan to do for an airbox:
1. Construct two "walls" out of cardboard, in such a way that it encloses the front corner of the engine bay around the filter.
2. Take cardboard to engineer and have the shape copied in stainless sheet.
3. Install stainless sheet using suitable bracketry.
4. Glue rubber strips to the upper edges so it seals against the bonnet.
5. Congratulate myself on being the man.
I have no idea if this will pass engineering but it should work pretty well.
