last time this kind of thing happened to my mums car, she drove back to tyre shop (toowoomba) - parked across entrance to workshop and advised them to remove the (nearly welded on) nuts, make good any damage and then refit nuts by hand at no charge... and made it plainly known to all the people in the waiting room that she wasn't going to move the car at all until they had done so... (folded arm, glaring at manager sort of stuff)
this only works if you have the time and patience to watch them do all the work - and your presence must be plainly obvious to all involved (no sitting in the waiting room). Also helps if workshop has only one main entrance to workshop.
seriously: can you remove the whole wheel/bearing hub and dril out the stud from the rear?... oh, no you can't because the caliper is in the way... can you remove that with wheel on?
or ... nail puch in centre of stud to start and then ruin all your sharp drill bits... then take to T***** for new studs... and possibly hub.
