It's a shame you had a go at the nuts as the tyre mob could say that you stuffed it up so bad luck.
But as for the clutch coming out,why do you need to remove the wheel?
Most front drive boxes,auto or manual,i just undid the ball joint and the driveshaft and pushed the whole hud and strut out to remove the driveshaft on the short side.
As for the long side leave everything there and pop the shaft of the box as it comes out.Or isn't there enough room for this?
If you really want to get the wheel of to do the job then get a couple of packets of double ended 1/8 drill bits and go to town with those.They come 5 or 10 to a pack and are not that dear.Just be careful that you don't snap one off in there.
