Regular Registered: November 2003	Re: whoa! any help appreciated -> kinda rounded off nut I can't get off Sun, 22 August 2004 07:42 Have had something like this problem with crap lock nuts..put them on once or twice with the hardened steel 'key'then you go to do it again and the keyway on the nut strips.FAAAAAAAARRRRRRRKKKKKKKK. I used this method to shift the butchered nut/s..use Vise Grips..good ones..Petersen Forge etc...the ones with the screw adjustment on the upper handle and the click lock set up on the lower handle..as tight as you can..I set the grips upside down with what is the upper arm parallel to the ground and packed it on some bricks...then I stood on the now upturned lower arm and got the jaws set and locked as tight as my puny 80kgs could ...then I put my little trolley jack under the end of the grips and slowly pumped it up...I had soaked the stud areas overnight with wd40 and bugger me it worked!!!and the grip jaws did not break..nothing like a quality forged tool... Obviously you would need to move your wheel to get the best angle to do something similiar..hope there is enough room... Good luck.. [Report message to a moderator]
